What is the largest bust size and hip size on the pattern rulers?

The largest BUST size pattern the pattern rulers make is 140 cm. To know what your actual bust size is you would measure around the circumference of your body over the bust. This will the size number you will use on the pattern rulers.

The largest HIP size pattern the pattern rulers make is 144 cm. To know what your actual hip size is you would measure around the circumference of your body around your widest hip width. This will be the size number you will use to make TROUSER patterns using the pattern rulers.

What is the smallest bust size and hip size on the pattern rulers?

The SMALLEST bust and hip size the pattern ruler draws a pattern for 80 cm BUST and 80 cm HIP

Does this system teach how to make different styles of clothing or is it just for making basic pattern blocks?

This pattern making system teaches you the principle of design, how to start creating your own styles, as well as providing the basic CUSTOM sized pattern blocks Even if you have no previous experience with designing, you will be able to style your own designs. The instruction books show you step- by- step how to create different popular styles, so does the DVD.

Is the “wearing” ease included in the patterns drawn from these pattern rulers?

Yes, the wearing ease is pre-calculated into all sections of the pattern ruler, the bodice, i.e. tops and dresses, the trousers, the sleeve and the casual jacket and track suites. You will not need to add any further ease onto your patterns. The DVD also shows you how to understand exactly what the final pattern size is.

Does the pattern ruler come with any instruction books or do the books have to purchase separately?

Does the LINGERIE PATTERN RULER come with lingerie, panty and bra instruction books, or do they have to be purchased separately?

The LINGERIE PATTERN RULER is supplied with TWO books. One book teaches how to make lingerie items, as well as swimming costumes. The second book teaches how to make panty and BRA patterns. The Lingerie pattern ruler even has different colours of the sizes so that you can make patterns for stretch and non-stretch lingerie items.

Do you have pattern rulers in inches?

This pattern ruler – as with the other two pattern rulers - is metric rulers. Most of the western world, as well as in the developing countries, the metric measure is in use. As such, the pattern rulers are manufactured to cater for the larger world market.

We can supply you with a conversion sheet to use with a metric pattern ruler.  We also have a magic metric tape measure that clips to the figure. The metric numbers on this tape measure indicate/ match up to, the metric size numbers to use on the pattern rulers.

How can I use these pattern rulers if I am used to using only inches.

The numbers on the pattern ruler represent your actual measurements. All you need to do it measure your bust and hips with a metric tape measure.

For example – if your bust measures (in metric) 104 cm on the measuring tape; you will use the number 104 on the pattern ruler.

Don’t be put off by the fact that (example) 104 is a metric measuring unit.

See the 104 as a size number.

Then use the size number of (example) 104 on the pattern ruler to map out the basic pattern

It will be handy to have one of those tape measures that show both imperial and metric measures. You will ONLY use the metric number to measure your bust and hip (for trousers) the rest of the measurements can be applied in imperial measure

You only actually need the metric tape measure to link your bust width and hip width (for trousers section of the pattern ruler) to know the SIZE number to use on the pattern ruler.

I am not a professional sewer; I just sew for myself and my family. I have never attempted pattern making. Will I really be able to styles my own designs? 

Absolutely. This is a “Teach Yourself Pattern Making & Design” system. It has been designed for absolute beginner. No previous experience in pattern making is required.
